We're starting to gear up for our fall Christian formation schedule, and we'll be kicking off a new series of classes at our Adult Forum, beginning September 15. The six-week series is entitled "The Short Stories of Jesus: The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi," based on the book by the same name, written by Amy-Jill Levine, Professor of New Testament Studies at Vanderbilt University Divinity School in Nashville. Each Sunday, we'll explore some of our Lord's most popular teaching parables, exposing some of the ways they've been misinterpreted down through the centuries, and looking for ways to make them most relevant to 21st century Christians. The class will rely on a combination of videos and group discussion. It won't be necessary to buy the book. But if you'd like to buy and read the book, it may deepen your appreciation for the material.
